A special partnership scheme, called "Local Lend a Hand" has been arranged between the County Council and Lloyds Bank to help first time buyers get that all important first property.
The County Council has lent the bank £10million out of its reserves. Over the coming years this will be repaid with interest.
In the meantime over 400 first time buyers will benefit by only needing a 5% deposit.
"I'm really proud of this new scheme," Shepshed's County Councillor Christine said. "For young people starting out in life this helping hand can make a huge difference."
