Loughborough MP Nicky Morgan is encouraging all local primary, secondary and sixth form school councils to enter the Speaker’s School Council Awards 2016. These awards are designed to recognise and celebrate all forms of student achievements through their impact in their local communities, no matter how big or small.
Each school that enters the award receives a web badge and the lucky winners will be invited to accept their award at the House of Commons in the Speaker’s State Apartments. Winners are chosen from categories divided by age (4-7, 8-11, 11-16, and 17-19).
Last year’s awards saw hundreds of entries from all age groups who presented projects on how they have improved their community, and demonstrating what young people can do when they work together.
Nicky commented:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for school councils and children of all ages to show just what they can do to enhance their local community. It is a great way to encourage young people to get involved with their school council and I look forward to seeing many Loughborough schools entering”.
The deadline for entries is May 16th 2016. For more information on the award, visit the website;https://www.speakersschoolcouncil.org/
