Loughborough MP Nicky Morgan is encouraging local residents to apply for a grant to conserve and repair local war memorials. It is part of a national protection scheme which aims to continue to remember those who fell during the First World War.
The grant, which is available to both individuals and groups, offers funds from as little as £50 up to £30,000 for preservation projects.
As part of the commemorations of the centenary of the First World War, Nicky is urging local residents with a desire to protect or improve their local war memorial to get involved with the scheme.
Commenting on the funding, Nicky said:
“This is an excellent way for the people of Loughborough to get involved with local commemorations of the Centenary of the First World War. This grant helps to ensure those who paid the ultimate sacrifice continue to be remembered. I encourage anyone who knows of a site in need of conservation or repair to get in touch with the War Memorials Trust”.
