At the Constituency Association AGM the Loughborough branch of the Conservative Women’s Organisation won the Challenge Cup for Merit. Congratulations and thanks to our members for all their efforts.
We are a welcoming and active group, organising various relaxing and friendly social – and fund raising - get-togethers and activities to support Nicky’s work.
We are also in the early stages of structuring a possible campaigning project to improve the description of disability provision in hotels and holiday accommodation
Regionally 150 or so CWO members recently attended the joint CWO and Women to Win East Midlands Conference held at Morley Hayes Golf Club near Derby, a lovely setting for an enjoyable and informative day. Focusing on women in public life, the speakers included Emma McClarken MEP and three MPs, Brooks Newmark, the champion of Women to Win, Jessica Lee from Erewash and Loughborough’s own Nicky Morgan as well as the indomitable – and highly entertaining – Edwina Curry.
Nationally CWO arranges forums on subjects as diverse as the challenges facing our armed forces as they return to civilian life, human trafficking, sexual exploitation and unplanned pregnancy.
On a lighter note our next social event locally will be a Strawberry Tea on 15 June. So why not leave the diet sheet at home for an afternoon and join us? Men are, of course, welcome too. Details will be on the Constituency Diary.
