A packed County Council meeting held in Shepshed last night to discuss plans by Biffa to build an incinerator in the town was branded unsatisfactory by prospective Conservative MP for the town, Nicky Morgan.
Mrs Morgan who attended the meeting and has met both Biffa and a representative of the Shepshed Against the Incinerator Group (SAIG) to discuss the application said, 'The room was packed. There were no microphones and people were left with many unanswered questions. I am not convinced that those taking the questions knew many of the answers anyway. A huge majority of the room were against the proposals', said Nicky.
'I will be doing my best to get those questions answered and to make sure the County Council and Biffa take the very strong feelings against the incinerator into account. Shepshed needs new shopping and leisure facilities to bring people to the town, not an unsightly and potentially unsafe incinerator', she concluded.
